In Denmark we have just got RENT A MOVIE ONLINE – via our national Television TV2. And Im very impressed with the result – very. It’s smooth and it works.

Off course its too late – and all the LEGASLATION GUYS HAVE HAD TOO MUCH IMPACT – and made to money in the process of trying to fuck this up.

Man. That will be another century when they start to think of such a service in EG.

Actually I do not agree that you could call this a success already. It is a success that we have now reached a stage where large organizations is starting to realize that their business is not happening in a traditional manor. But regarding to “It’s smooth and it works”, I really can’t see your valid point.

1) It uses Flash-only, there’s no way to access this without

2) It uses Internet Explorer technology only – you need to use IE6 to use it or you can’t

3) It’s not at all cross-platform, it can only be used with Windows

4) The usability is full of different flaws that makes this one of the worst examples of large-scale webprojects in dk lately

Litterally everything that could go wrong, technically, has gone wrong IMO. Even non-tech topics like pricing seems like it’s done by some marketings execs with a skewed look on their potential customers. Consider this; You want to rent a movie. You have three options, either go to Blockbuster and you pay 25-40 DKK for a movie. Second way around this is signing up for an online service like Digitarian (similair to Netflix) and pay from 25 to 5 DKK per movie. Now you’ve got a third solution and that’s going to SPUTNIK and paying 20-45 DKK for a STREAM that’s only available for 24 hours. How cool is that? 😦

I say DIVX-quality movies that you can download with some sort of DRM, for a price like 5-10 DKK per movie.

Jacob. You are the man.
Please be kind enough to pass me that site. Thank you 🙂
